Basalt
A dense basalt piece with a stronger, more angular form and an irregular natural exterior.
Basalt is selected for its fine grain, density and strength, then cut and polished to create a clean face for detailed etching. The outer surface is left raw and architectural, giving each piece a sharper, more structured presence than the rounded pillow basalt.
Size Options

Image Guidance
For best results, upload a clear, high-resolution digital photo. Images with strong contrast, clear subjects and good lighting generally produce the best results.
Portraits, pets, machinery, buildings, logos and landscapes can all work well when the image contains sufficient detail.
The photo upload tool at checkout will advise if your image resolution is suitable for laser etching.
CARE & MAINTENANCE
To keep your stone looking its best, treat it with care and avoid harsh cleaners or abrasive scrubbing.
Wipe gently with a soft damp cloth when needed. Your piece can be displayed indoors or in a semi-sheltered outdoor area, although some natural weathering of the finish may occur over time with prolonged exposure to the elements.
SHIPPING & RETURNS
Standard shipping within New Zealand is included in the listed price for standard pieces unless stated otherwise.
Custom size, oversized, unusually heavy or commercial pieces may require a separate freight quote.
We carefully package each piece to protect it during transit.
Delivery timeframes are estimates only unless we have specifically agreed to a guaranteed delivery date
in writing.
IMAGE QUALITY AND CUSTOMER-SUPPLIED FILES
Customers are responsible for supplying suitable images, logos or files for engraving.
High-resolution digital images with clear subjects, good lighting and strong contrast produce the best results.
Low-resolution, blurry, dark, heavily filtered, cropped or screenshot images may not produce a clear engraving.
Where possible, the upload function will identify whether the image resolution is unsuitable for our laser etching process. If we identify a significant issue with image quality, we may contact you before
production.
We may make reasonable adjustments to prepare the image for etching, including cropping, contrast adjustment, background removal or tonal correction.
REFUSAL OF WORK
Etch & Stone reserves the right to refuse an order where we reasonably believe the work is unsafe, unlawful, offensive, misleading, impractical, outside our capability, or infringes another party’s rights.
If we refuse an order after payment has been made and no production work has begun, we will provide
a refund.
COPYRIGHT AND PERMISSION TO USE IMAGES
By uploading or supplying an image, logo, design or other material, you confirm that you have the right to use it.
You must not upload or supply material that infringes another person’s copyright, trademark, privacy or other rights.
Etch & Stone may refuse to produce work where we reasonably believe the supplied material is inappropriate, unlawful, offensive, or not authorised for use.
